Which Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment Is Right for You?

Looking to fix worn, discolored, stained, damaged, or chipped teeth? The right cosmetic dentistry treatment can give you the smile you’ve always desired. Depending on your specific treatment goals and severity of your circumstances, you may need just one cosmetic dentistry treatment or a full-scale smile makeover that involves multiple treatments. Our dentists here at Vista Dental in Medicine Hat, AB, Dr. Mike Atwood or Dr. Amandeep Singh, can help determine the most appropriate cosmetic dental treatments suitable to your goals.

Different Types of Cosmetic Dental Procedures

Veneers

Veneers are super-thin, custom-made, and tooth-colored resin or porcelain shells that completely cover the entire surface of your front teeth. Your dentist will remove approximately half a millimeter of your front teeth’s enamel and bond the veneers to the surface using dental cement to change your front teeth’s length, color, size, and/ or shape.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

Whitening treatments are the most affordable and straightforward ways used for enhancing a smile. You can opt for in-office teeth whitening right in your dentist’s office or purchase take-home teeth whitening kits from your dentist so you can whiten your teeth at home or use it for touchups.

Bonding

During the dental bonding procedure, your dentist will apply a putty-like, tooth-colored resin to your teeth and then harden it with a blue light to bond it to your tooth. Next, your dentist will shape, trim, and polish the bonding material. Dental bonding is capable of repairing misshapen, decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth, and is an excellent replacement or alternative to silver or amalgam fillings.

Crowns

Dental crowns or caps are made to fit over damaged or decayed teeth above your gum line to restore their appearance, size, shape, function, and strength. They can likewise cover severely stained or misshapen teeth. Dental crowns are typically made of ceramic, resin, or porcelain.

Bridges

Dental bridges are made up of dental crowns on either side of the gap left by a missing tooth, with an artificial tooth in between. These are common cosmetic dental solutions for replacing missing teeth.
